Choosing a country

Please skip this page and try to look for the place you want on the following page  'City'  first.
If you are not able to find the place you want within the database then go back to this page and try to enter at least the country and the province. In that way, at least the corrections of the time zone and daylight saving time can be transferred from the database. Go straight on to the page where it says  'Place'  and fill in the name of the place and its coordinates.

All entries are organised in a regional system under region, country and province. The term province covers state, district or other administrative units of a country.
The classification of countries however is organised according to geographical facts, not political considerations.
So you won’t find the Canary Islands, which politically speaking belong to Spain, by tapping Spain because these islands are geographically speaking located in the Atlantic Ocean and therefore you will find them by tapping the region Atlantic Ocean.

For states and provinces where local names are not in the Latin alphabet, the international transcription is used.

Example: Ellada, Greece
 Nihon, Nippon, Japan

To find the province Ontario in our example first select the region America / USA and then tap in Canada and go straight to Ontario.
