Choosing a city

Make sure you activate the input field before entering any information via your keyboard. Please tap the input field to activate it.

You can use both of the buttons right next to the input field in order to go up and down within the given list of places.

Although some countries don’t use the Latin alphabet all locations are in the Latin alphabet. In general, all places as far as possible are saved in this program under their local names using the local spelling.
In addition, there are various translations as well as spellings of large cities in this application. Therefore, you will be able to find Vienna in Austria by tapping both "Wien" and "Vienna".

Example: WienVienna
 MoskvaMoskau
 FirenzeFlorenz
 YerushalayimJerusalem

Entries are organised in their normal form within an alphabetic sequence. We understand normal form as the use at 26 small letters from a to z reduced. There is no difference between big and small letter spelling.

Example: New Yorknew york
 Åbenråabenra
 Khmel´nyts´kyykhmelnytskyy
 `Ezbet Nâyîf Pash`a `Imâdezbet nayif pasha imad

If you are looking for a place, for example, Korçë you can do this by writing "Korce", "korce" or "KORCE" and the results will always be identical.

If you can´t find a particular place within the list you can try to vary the name or the spelling in order to get a result. And you needn’t always write in the complete spelling of a place, most of the time it is sufficient to write in the first few letters and the place you are looking for will show up in the list below.

If the keyboard has been removed detailed information will apear on the place you have selected. So you will be able to differentiate between places which have identical names and are located in the same country more easily.

If you don’t succeed in finding the town you want, turn to the next page called  'Place'  and enter it there.

If you don’t know the coordinates of the place you want, try to find them by looking through the following web pages:

        Astrodienst Zürichwww.astro.ch/atlas

If the place you are looking for is very small, sometimes it is better to use a local map/road map.
